The City of Monticello, Kentucky, held a groundbreaking ceremony June 6, 2013, to mark the beginning of the Monticello Water Treatment Plant Improvement Project. The project is an expansion of the existing 3 mgd conventional water treatment plant (WTP) to a 4.5 mgd membrane WTP adjacent to the existing site and utilizing portions of the existing facility. The project is fully funded through $1,000,000 CDBG grant, $500,000 ARC grant and $9,246,000 USDA Rural Development grant
