Monticello Wastewater Treatment Plant

This project was an expansion of the existing 0.7 million gallon per day (mgd) wastewater treatment plant to 1.4 mgd on the existing site. The project included installation of a new grit chamber in conjunction with a new headworks facility. The existing influent pump station was rehabilitated and remained in service. The headworks included grit removal and mechanical bar screens. A new chemical feed system was added and an additional oxidation ditch and two new clarifiers were constructed to increase capacity of the secondary system. New UV disinfection replaced the existing chlorine contact basin. Two additional sludge holding basins were constructed to improve solids holding and a septic receiving station was constructed near the entrance of the facility. The project was fully funded through EDA and USDA Rural Development loan and grant monies.
