Whitesburg Farmer's Market
The new Farmer’s Market for the City of Whitesburg, Kentucky is located along the banks of the North Fork of the Kentucky River. Our work included extensive flood elevation research to site the pavilions above the 100-year floodplain and allow for higher flood levels, if necessary. The concept is based on historic plazas and open air markets and includes three covered pavilions surrounding a dynamic, open gathering area. Plans for a future restroom, demonstration kitchen, and outdoor dining area were also included.
The project is scheduled to be constructed in multiple phases based on current grant funding through Agriculture Fund and Federal Abandoned Mine Land Economic Recovery (AMLER) Grants. Plans for the initial three pavilions will be complete and submitted the summer of 2023. The overall scope of the project is approximately $2M. Our team provided site evaluation, community engagement, concept development, architectural design, site/civil engineering, and landscape architecture.
