Monticello Water Treatment Plant Improvements Ribbon Cutting

The City of Monticello, Kentucky, held a ribbon cutting ceremony October 2, 2014, to mark the completion of the Monticello Water Treatment Plant Improvement Project. The project included an expansion of the existing 3 mgd conventional water treatment plant (WTP) to a 4.5 mgd membrane WTP adjacent to the existing site and utilization of portions of the existing facility.

The project was fully funded through $1,000,000 CDBG grant, $500,000 ARC grant and $9,246,000 USDA Rural Development grant and loan package. Dignitaries in attendance at the event included Tony Wilder, Department for Local Government Commissioner; Thomas Fern, USDA Rural Development State Director; Carlos Cameron, Congressman Hal Rogers’ Office; Donna McClure, Senator Mitch McConnell’s Office; Mayor Jeffrey Edwards, City of Monticello; Judge Executive Greg Rankin, Wayne County; and Gene Jones, Manager of the Monticello Utility Commission. The event was also attended by City of Monticello Council Members Charles Peters and Martin Breeding; Monticello Utility Commissioners James Peters, Stewart York and Juanita Allen; representatives from the Lake Cumberland Area Development District; Tim Hopper, First Southern National Bank; Joe Smith, Owner of Smith Contractors; and other community and utility representatives.

New Hires at Bell

Bell Engineering is pleased to announce the addition of Rick Harper, P.E., LEED AP and Clinton R. Abbott, P.E., to our team.

Mr. Harper has 27 years of industry experience including a strong background in commercial, municipal, industrial and institutional site development projects. A registered professional engineer and LEED AP certified, he also has extensive experience in sanitary sewer and water main design as well as stormwater control and flood encroachment studies.

Mr. Abbott is a registered professional engineer with 15 years’ experience designing potable water, fire protection, sanitary sewer and stormwater systems. With a background in both civil and geotechnical engineering, he is also experienced with grading and drainage design, detention and retention systems, stormwater quality design, and construction administration.

Rick and Clint are great additions to the Bell team and both will be involved with planning, design, and project management. Bell Engineering is proud to be continually growing and diversifying to best meet the needs of our clients.
